The Islamic Mindset
By: Hal Lindsey

With our government proclaiming that Islam is a ‘religion of peace’, this rare contemporary insight into official Muslim thinking is very important to consider. The highest ruling authority for the Sunni sect of Islam, which represents about one billion of the 1.3 billion Muslims in the world, recently made the following statement, “The acquisition of modern nuclear weaponry is a religious obligation.”

The Islamic Ruling Committee in Al Azhar, based in Cairo, ruled that Islamic states must acquire nuclear weapons for their defense, this according to the World Tribune.com.

One of the members of Islam’s highest ruling Committee, Sheik Ala A-Shanawi, went on to say, “The founder of Islam, Mohammad, would have acquired a nuclear bomb to fight his enemies.” This statement sounds more ‘offensive’ than ‘defensive’, wouldn’t you say?

Sheik A-Shanawi is no minor cleric in the Sunni Muslim’s highest authority for application of Islamic law. When he gives a ruling, he represents the official position of the Sunni Ruling Committee, which is headed by Sheik Al Hassan.

According to Sheik Al Hassan, “Getting to know the enemy and realizing the different was to deal with it is a religious obligation. If a neighboring county is known to posses a nuclear weapon, then we must do all in our power to do the same.”

Again, speaking for the Islamic Ruling Committee, A-Shanawi announced, “All Islamic nations are required to seize nuclear weaponry, giving the nation the utmost respect. We see how far behind our nation is as a result of not being prepared as well as it should be, while the enemy has equipped itself with the best weaponry there is, which it will use to harm and destroy Muslims.”

Who Is the Enemy?

It is very important to clarify just whom Islam views as ‘the enemy’. As far as the Koran, which is the absolute final word for Islam, is concerned, all infidels or unbelievers are the enemy. This is especially applied to those identified by Islam as Christian or Jewish. Although most Americans today do not think of the United States as a Christian nation, the Muslims do. And they see us as the chief helper of their ultimate enemy, Israel. We are regarded as “The Great Satan”, which is a name reserved for the supreme enemy of Islam.

So when a ruling cleric declares, “they must acquire nuclear bombs to fight the enemy”, it is imperative we translate that to particularly mean the United States and Israel.

Saddam, Hero of Muslim Masses

While the United States gears up to launch a war to insure that Saddam Hussein does not acquire nuclear weapons, The view of official Islam is that he has not only the right, but a ‘religious obligation’ to obtain them.

The United States and the West must learn how official Muslim clerics think, or we will perish under nuclear rubble.

The ‘Muslim street’, which is the title usually applied to the Muslim masses, pay infinitely more attention to what the ruling clerics say than they do to the political rulers of their countries.

For instance, the Imams and Clerics in Egypt set the thinking of Egyptians much more than President Hosni Mubarak. The same think can be said of the Jordanians, Saudis, the Turks, etc. This is why these so-called ‘Moderate Muslim rulers’ cannot openly back the United States on our proposed war with Saddam Hussein. They cannot even let us use their bases.

Nuclear Suicide Bombers

When you factor into this equation what many ruling clerics teach – that those who give their lives as suicide bombers are the eternal heroes of Islam – destined to spend eternity in Paradise with 72 virgins and the most lavish mansions from Allah, you begin to get the idea of what a formidable danger we face.

A nuclear-armed Muslim suicide bomber who kills a few million ‘infidels’ would be considered among the highest in the pantheon of Muslim martyrs. This is what most Muslims think – not just those who are officially part of Al Qaeda.

Every general in a war knows that there is no chance of winning and surviving unless you fully recognize at least three things:

First, who is your real enemy?
Second, what is the source of his thinking and motivation?
Third, from where and how will he attack?

Not all Muslims, thank God, are our enemies. But virtually all of our enemies are Muslim – especially Muslim men between the ages of 18 to 45 years old.

They are hidden among the 'moderate' Muslims in this country. Therefore, it is insane not to use our limited resources to the fullest on profiling and carefully watching all Muslims and Mosques. If this is done prudently, it will verify who are our Muslim friends and who are our enemies.

Time is not on our side. And unfortunately, even our good leaders are very resistant to recognize the truth about Islam. They should listen to what one of Islam’s own great scholars wrote.

Zarin Koub, former head of the department of history and religion at University of Tehran, wrote, “From the beginning, its [Islam’s] spread was accomplished through physical violence, bloodshed and war. Violence not only against non-Muslim infidels, but also against fellow Muslims. Much of Islam’s spread in the world was the result of traders and Sufi missionaries, this is true. Yet he weaponry—scimatars and sabers—all through the art and symbolism of Islam, makes violence and war a central theme of Islam … Mohammad both taught and practiced violence from the beginning.”

A true Muslim follows Mohammad and the Koran. So let’s forget this non-sense that Islam is basically religion of peace before we are destroyed by its ‘peaceful’ followers.
